Pardon Me, My 70s Are Showing
Anybody remember this song?
Actually, you’ll probably remember the Coca-Cola commercial version better. It was a great commercial. But whichever version you recall, this is a pretty nice sentiment, if you think about it. A pretty darn nice sentiment.
But what if that sentiment became action? What would happen?
On February 20, 2015, United Nations World Day of Social Justice, one thousand bloggers will join their voices to speak through their blogs about compassion. I will be one of them.
Will you?
Will you be one of the more than 1,000 bloggers who will raise their voices together to teach the world about compassion?
Join us. Visit the 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion Facebook page. Sign up to add your blog post to the effort. Ask to join the Facebook group. Use the hashtag #1000Speak to promote this event. And if you don’t have a blog or aren’t on Facebook or social media? We’ve got you covered. Visit the #1000Speak for Compassion site at http://1000speak.wordpress.com/ and let your voice be heard, too.
Help us teach the world to sing.

You could be writing copy for a living. You know that right? This is why I pilfered your stuff…it sounds like its written for official purposes. Thats a badly worded compliment…really nicely written!
Now my OWN blog eats my comments…honestly.
I would quite enjoy writing copy for a living, Zoe, if only I could get some darn leads! Of course the other criteria is that I can do it from the comfort of my own home and in my non-yoga-doing yoga pants. I’m working on that. Got any ideas?
And thank you. It was a very nice compliment.
YESSSS! Love it 😀 Simple and to-the-point 😀
Best way to go, right?
Perfect! If only. . . . .
We can try, though, right? Maybe just a little something is still good.
I don’t even need to click that link to hear it in my head!
It’s awesome, isn’t it? Kristi’s post actually made me think of it and I went looking for it.
Oh, I remember that song. I loved the New Seekers, way back in the 70s, and loved this song! It so funny and fitting that you chose it to advertise 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion.
I read Kristi’s post last night – I think it was her one for Finish the Sentence Friday – and that song came to mind. (Songs pop into my head a lot.) And that’s where the post came from. I loved that song. I fear it makes me middle-aged. OH well. Forty’s the new twenty, right? 😉
Love that title, Lisa – hope you don’t mind if I borrow a slight paraphrase of it for an upcoming post in my . . . ahem . . . more mature blog – the one where my ’70s show ALOT!
Haha – no problem, Shel. Go right ahead! I’ll be happy to read because, you know, my 70s. 😀
You know what Shel’s talking about, right?
I thought I did…did I miss something? Now I just feel slightly senile.
And I think I figured it out!
I loved the Coke commercial. I remember going around singing that song as a kid.
You go back to the 70s for world peace. I went back to the 70s for Garanimals. I feel outclassed!
LOL – No, I am with you on the Garanimals. I just haven’t gotten over to comment yet. I loved it!
I also sang the song. It was great.
In perfect harmony!!!! That song WILL be in my head for the rest of the day…
What’s with you and these sticking songs? 😉
NAILED IT!
Songs always pop into my head…I’ve just found a way to use them!
I love it!
🙂
I really love this. Boy, the world feels cruel and crass lately…like even more than a year ago. Time to talk some peace, love and harmony. And if that lets my 70s show as well, I am ok with that.
It does and that’s exactly how the 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion was born. Are you in? I just know it’s right up your alley, May. Join us?
I’ve been humming this song all day since reading this post this morning (only getting to commenting now).
Great post!
It’s an earworm! A good one, though, right? Thanks for coming back to comment! I haven’t gotten around yet…could be tomorrow.
You’re such a good ambassador for #1000speak!
And I love that song! All the kids in that commercial were so COOL!
Thanks, Dyanne. Because I kind of feel like a not so good one at the moment. I haven’t done a ton of stuff and I’m kind of working through a thing right now that leaves me feeling rather less than compassionate about the issue.
I thought that commercial was awesome. Now if we’re going to talk cheesy 70s pop tunes, how about “Seasons in the Sun”? Remember that one?
