TToT – Outside My Comfort Zone
I am standing outside of my comfort zone. It feels good.
Recently, I have put myself and my writing “out there” for others to see, to critique, and to share. I am thankful that I had the courage to do it and I am thankful for the feedback I’ve received. I am thankful for inspiration to write and when that is not present, I am thankful for writing prompts.
I am thankful that I met all of my writing goals for this week. I am thankful that the pieces turned out well and I am satisfied with them. I am thankful that I allowed myself to feel good about how my influence is affecting other people.
I am thankful once again that I am part of 1000 Voices for Compassion and for the good that has brought to my life. I have made so many connections with such a variety of people. I have developed friendships and working relationships. I have read and shared stories that have inspired me; my stories have inspired others.
I am thankful to know in my heart that some things in life that are difficult are also necessary. I am thankful for what may be signs, for lack of a better word, or indicators that the choices I make are the right ones.
I am SO thankful that by the calendar, at least, spring is here. Winter made one last (I hope) grand appearance today wearing a coat of fluffy white ermine. But Spring also made her presence clear in the form of a small flock of robins that spent a large part of the day playing in the snow and under the bushes outside of our home.
I am thankful for the snow day that resulted from the storm. It provided my family with an opportunity to enjoy a lazy early start to the weekend. And I am thankful for my Husband and Daughter every second that I breathe.

Your turn: What are you thankful for this week? Have you been inspired by another’s words? Have you inspired someone with your own? What hard but necessary decisions have you had to make? You know the drill…share ’em or link ’em!

Your hosts
Yes, sometimes the right decisions are the difficult ones, but it is nice when those decisions are made with confidence.
Congratulations on meeting your writing goals!
Hopefully the weather will follow the calendar soon.
Thanks, Krksti!
Life is full of tough decisions, Kristi, and confidence does help. Absolutely.
Oh, and FRIST!
FRIST you are! I saw that you were online when I was wrapping up last night. Considered nabbing a frist at your place…but my eyes were just too tired! 😀
I am glad for #1000Speak too. Second month of doing it and I am as inspired as ever.
I am thankful too that my writing is no longer hidden where only my eyes can see.
🙂
I see you and so many doing not only #1000Speak, but all these other blog projects as mentioned above and I marvel at your time management skills.
😉
I can only focus on a few at a time. Bravo to you all for doing what you do.
Have a good weekend and Happy Spring to you.
🙂
It is pretty inspiring, isn’t it, Kerry? And the people and connections. It’s just awesome.
Now, about these projects…I don’t know about the others, but my time management is largely smoke and mirrors. 😉
Bravo to you for being part of 1000Speak. I just figured out that I haven’t read yours yet so I’m off to do that right now…
SOOOOOO pleased to meet you in person. ..kinda….and Zilla!!! That killer whale squeal. ..AWESOME BONUS!!!!! NOW I WANNA TOTALLY MEET FOR REAL!
If I haven’t said it yet, you seem more around lately like I see you on other blogs and texting and Facebook and I love seeing you more!
Zoe, ABSOLUTELY great to sorta meet in person. Amazing. Zilla does have a fantastic little squeal.
We’re gonna have to figure out the meet for real part. I could easily convince the Hub to take a trip to your neck of the woods – we have many reasons to love it up there.
I don’t think you said that but thanks – that’s really nice. I think it’s that I’ve gotten to know a few more people and that damn Facebook thing certainly is a factor. There was some grand fun on Chris Carter’s page last night right before I hopped in the vidchat. I think that sort of builds the community, you know?
Hi Lisa. I can see and feel your writing “bloom” like the Spring that is officially here. It’s fun to connect. You’ll have to tell me about the Vidchat. My book club was cancelled but I chickened out. Have a good week. See you on the Book.
Heheh – Val, you Clark you! I almost chickened out, too, but it was food. Fun. You should come next time.
And thank you – it is good to connect. And Val…we have guest post swapping to talk about!
I’m also thankful you’re putting yourself out there more, because you’re AWESOME. I hope you enjoy this (hopefully) last cold weekend snuggling with Zilla and Fab Hub.
Thank you, Jen.
We are enjoying the cold weekend. We are snuggling and napping and playing. Tomorrow, I may be less enthused when we have a four hour scout event at the local zoo and have to do a nature hike and activities OUTSIDE in the snow. Think positive…think positive…
I am so far behind but I can’t wait to catch up and read more of your writing. Congratulations on meeting all your writing goals and putting it out there for us. I am also very glad spring has finally arrived.
Thank you, Jean. I am glad you’re catching up! I have spent so much time lately trying to dig out of the reading pile. There is so much to read and it’s all so good!
Hooray for spring!
The robins are cute but NO NO NO TO SNOW!
It was SO nice to meet you in real. And Zilla is completely gorgeous and wonderful and so funny. It was lovely to put a voice and (more of) a face to the name behind the blog.
GOOD FOR YOU for doing more with your writing and meeting your goals. Which reminds me, I need to go do that NOW. Ack! Oops.
The robins were really kind of amazing. Can’t believe they hung out for most of the day.
The vidchat meet was terrific and so good to put actual faces to names. Zilla’s little cameo was entertaining.
Tonight I’m still reading posts…so tired! I shall write again tomorrow.
I will add my own ‘cool!’ to your making the vidchat last night it was what makes this little aspect of making it to the 21st Century totally worth the effort!
hey thanks for your contribution to the impromptu mixtape on the Linda Ronstadt song…. I like your find (listening to all three versions as I get in some Reply-time before I get back to work.
The vidchat was definitely outside of the box for me, but I’m glad I was there! Looking forward to more.
I’ve been listening to all three of those versions of the song and I honestly don’t know which I like best. Each has its own particular moments that make it rise above the others.
I’m glad you had a good start into your weekend! Did it include hot chocolate?? I think I will start tomorrow with hot chocolate, apple pancakes, and tons of cuddling with the kids before the surprise hits 🙂 Meeting writing goals, or any goals at that, is always awesome, congrats, Lisa!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
No hot chocolate, Stephanie, but copious amounts of hot coffee made by the Hub. Clicking over to your post to see what’s up…not sure what that surprise thing is about!
I love the idea of posting weekly thankful lists! I, too, am VERY thankful for spring!
The weekly Ten Things of Thankful hop is a wonderful practice, Leslie, and brings together a wonderful group of people. Join us any time!
I love this so much! That mug is absolutely fantastic, putting yourself out there is golden, and focusing on gratitude makes the world go round. Did I mention that I love this? 🙂
Haha – you did mention that, Galit, and thank you! 🙂 That mug is so great we got the words on a card and framed them – both the Hub and me have stepped way outside of our comfort zones in the last couple of years and it’s been a really good thing for all of us. Doing this weekly gratitude post and link-up has been a life-changer for me. Truly.
Yay to putting yourself out there with your writing! I KNOW how difficult that is! It’s a big-ass deal. Kudos. Also? I’ve also learned doing things that are scary pays off. I’ve been making an effort to say yes to things I’d normally say no to, and I must say – it does feel good. Sort of exhilerating and scary, like a roller coaster.
you’re freaking awesome. Jelly of your vidchat with Lizzi!
It is scary, Beth, because for so many writers (I’d argue all) that it’s so personal, a part of who we are. Nobody wants to have that out there for the world to judge.:D And yes, doing scary things does pay off. Despite all the scary parts, those choices have definitely been the right ones. I have something like that pinned somewhere – if your dreams don’t scare you, they probably aren’t big enough. Something like that?
I think you’re awesome back. The vidchat was great fun. 🙂
This is such a lovely list, Lisa! I feel out of the loop this week, since I’ve been spring breaking and not doing much else.
I am not jealous of your snow, but I’m jealous of your snow day. I am NOT looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
We have robins year-round, so it’s funny to me to hear that your actually come back in the spring! The only birds I know of that fly south around here are hummingbirds and bluebirds.
How fun that you did the vid chat! I’ve done it a few times, but I never get invited anymore (ahem!).
Dyanne, I feel out of the loop sometimes even when I’m in the loop! You’ve been away…and good for you!
I don’t know if first-timers are allowed to invite people to vidchat, but I say you’re invited!
You ARE taking risks, and impressing me along the way! Good job, you!
Thanks. 🙂
It is full spring here in Florida. My allergies can attest to that.
Nice job finding the silver lining on a snow day. I am sure you guys are beyond over them.
My allergies are confused – they got started, then it snowed. Confused!
I’m all for bonus time off together, Erin, but seriously? Enough snow and cold. This week I’m doing the “spring cleaning” thing. Enough!
That experience really had an affect on you, didn’t it? It’s more than just writing a post to cover a prompt. It’s the connections we make, the words we read, and the lessons we learn about ourselves, too.
Eli, I think it’s safe to say that several experiences lately have had a great impact on me. The 1000Speak experience in particular has been very good. I think it’s good to see so many people working for good, treating one another with kindness. It’s made it more clear to me that the negatives in our recent past do not define the rest of the world, if that makes sense.
Congratulations!
And awesome mug by the way…
Thanks, Tinne. Yes, I love that mug. Have the same saying on a card that I framed, too. It is a great reminder to do the things that might be uncomfortable. Ultimately, they help us grow.
