TToT – Upright

May 9, 2015 Off By Lisa

I am upright.

In fact, I’ve been upright for pretty much the entire day. That’s a major accomplishment considering I’ve been in bed sick since Sunday night – and when I say in bed since Sunday night, I’m not kidding. You know you’re seriously down for the count when you only leave the bed to pee and even then, you think about whether it’s really worth it.

I told you. Fever delirium is a real thing.

I do not enjoy being sick. I especially loathe it when I have the perfect storm of ailments converge resulting in what this week rendered me the most sick I’ve been in…well, forever.

I have been so sick this week I have ignored life. The Internet, the news, food, human contact, deadlines (well, I didn’t ignore them so much as begged off and managed extensions), chores, showering…all of it.

And so my absolute first item of thanks must go to my Hub and my Kidzilla. They have been beyond patient with me this week, especially given the fact that I have been an intolerably miserable witch. They’ve handled morning routine, getting to school, packing lunch, getting home, shuttling to after school stuff, dinner, bath, bedtime…and I have to admit I’m a tiny bit surprise at how well they managed. I like to think that we have a pretty well-managed household. I guess me being totally out of commission and things running smoothly gives testament to that belief.

Either that or I’m completely unnecessary here. I’m going with the first option.

In all seriousness, I am so grateful to my Husband for all the running and managing he’s done all week on top of his own job. And I am so grateful to Zilla for being well behaved and cooperative and helpful.

I’m thankful for my sick buddies, the three Rotten Cats. These little guys have been my constant companions for eight months now that my life and work are home-based. But this week these three have never left my side. They followed me to the bathroom and sat watchfully to make sure I got back to the bed safely. They snuggled with me when I was cold from chills and moved over when I was too hot. Animals do seem to know when their humans aren’t right and these three are no exception. So thanks, Rottens.

What else…good friends. If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them. I’d like to name every single person who called, texted, messaged, Facebooked, Twitted (or whatever) to wish me better and check on me. These have been five long and lonely days so I am really grateful for your care and concern. And for those friends who talked symptoms and such with me – thanks for your input. You each helped in very specific ways to getting me back to almost normal today.

I am thankful for my Kidzilla. OH how that child has my heart. Today I was beyond thankful that I was well enough to go to school for the first grade’s Mother’s Day Tea and it was quite possibly the best day of my life for so many reasons. I think that story belongs somewhere else, some other time, not here today. Right now, I’m taking to my private journal to write down every completely delicious moment of it. I’ve never cried so many happy tears in my whole life.

And with that, I must take my leave and go to bed because I know if I jump back to full-throttle I’m going to relapse and I do not have time for that nonsense.

Your turn: What are you thankful for this week? What makes you cry happy tears? What would you name as the best day of your life?

You know the drill – share ’em or link ’em!
