Friday Favorites on Thursday Night
Call me a rebel.
I realized I haven’t done a Five Friday Favorites in about forever, so I’m tossing one up right now. On Thursday.
No fuss, no ado, just five down and dirty favorites of the moment as they fall out of my head. Right. Now. Here they are.
Hot drinks. Usually coffee, but tea takes a close second when I have to cut off the caffeine supply. Better than a hot drink? One that someone else made for me. Thank you to Dunkin Donuts and to the Fab Hub for always coming through in this department. And a special honorable mention goes to the BFF for finding a coffee cup (not entirely dirty), putting coffee in it and delivering it to my desk on the morning my life exploded and I forgot my coffee at home. See that cute little green teapot down there? That’s my first-ever and still-favorite teapot for making tea.
Snuggles from Kidzilla. Early weekend mornings she shows up with her head next to mine on the pillow for a cuddle. Weekday afternoons, she is generally quite willing to have a few quiet moments when we both get home from school before we go about whatever business we have for the evening. And she’s always good for a bedtime snuggle while we read books and say prayers and sing lullabies. Yup, she still asks for those. And I’m not about to stop her. And besides being a great snuggler, Zilla always knows exactly when you need a hug or a smile or a tiny hand on your cheek.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. And Big Cups. (Have you had these? Twice the peanut butter. Please.) And Reese’s hearts. And Reese’s eggs. I am terrible at picking favorites of anything, but when it comes to candy, Reese’s peanut butter whatever shape they’re making this month are too easy. Oh, and when they did the dark chocolate special edition a few years ago for a Batman movie promotion or something? Even better. Now if I could get a dark chocolate Big Cup, I’d be really set.
My buckwheat pillow or whatever the heck it is. I have rheumatoid arthritis and sometimes that means that no amount of heat is enough for cold, aching joints unless you pop one of these buckwheat-filled smushy pillow things on your feet and ankles. And when my hands hurt, the one pillow is so smushy that I can sort of put my whole hand in the little beads and kind of let it wrap around my aches and pains. Awesome. As an added bonus, they make great bed warmers, too. Here, the Fab Hub models the heart-shaped pillow that he’s about to warm up for me because he loves me.
Rotten Cats. Specifically, my three Rotten Boys. They are without a doubt the three most annoying creatures on the planet. Some of them poop in my sink and on my bathroom carpet when they’re mad about something. Some of them yerf up hairballs on the carpet so you step in them when you least expect it. Some of them cat brawl in the middle of the night making sounds that sound as if they came straight from hell and leaving kitten-sized balls of fur behind. Some of them prance around on the kitchen table, daring me to shoo them off. Some of them nap there or sit among the Christmas decorations (no, I haven’t put them away yet) and pretend to be invisible. But some of them also snuggle up to my feet at night and purr and some of them know just when their people need a friend and some Rotten Cat kitty love. So they’re pretty OK. And if nothing else, they are wildly entertaining blog fodder. If you haven’t met the Rotten Cats yet, click on that link up there at the top of the paragraph and read all about them!
What are your favorites this week?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of my favorites is sitting on the sofa catching up on blogs, etc while eating a bowl of popcorn. Good times.
Oh, I love a good bowl of popcorn! I am hoping to do that with a good movie later after the Kidzilla is asleep!
Great favorites! Well, except for the Rotten Cats … but hey! If they make you happy, go for it.
I named candy as one of my favorites and I totally forgot about Reese’s or that would have been on my list as well.
You are so blessed to have a kidzilla for comforting! Enjoy!
Hi, Jerralea! I was a life-long cat hater, to be honest. My Husband’s family had a cat before we got married and he was pretty nice. So when we bought our house and were ready to add pets to the mix, the Hub convinced me that cats were the way to go for us. He was right – we just don’t have a schedule that would be kind for a dog. So these three cats have been a great addition and lots of fun – much to my surprise. Now I just pretend I’m still a hater. 😉
And yes, we really are blessed to have our Kidzilla!
As a sufferer from cervical dystonia I share your love for the buckwheat pillow. Also I can really recommend a clay pillow. It is a big sack of mud/clay which you heat up in the microwave and will keep you warm for hours on end.
Oh, Tinne – ouch! I can imagine the warm pillow would be a relief. I’ve never heard of the clay pillows, but I’m intrigued. I’ll have to find out more. Sounds pretty gross, but I like the idea of hours of warmth!
One of the little bean pillows I have is sort of a u-shape and it’s meant to rest across the back of your neck and shoulders and the two little arms come forward to the front by your collarbone. That one is also nice!
Thanks for the coffee shout out. I will bring you coffee any day 🙂
And I you. 🙂 But that particular day was a life-saving gesture.
I can see how you would have a love/hate relationship with those rotten cats. But they sure are cute!
That’s a good way to describe it. I really do love them. But I try to keep my cover. 😉
Haaaa.
That gorgeous little panther looks suspicious and naughty!!! Love!
Those are very good words for him!
I love those Rotten Cats too, and I haven’t even met them. They’re like cat celebrities to me. 🙂
They will be happy to know that they are loved and adored. And famous.
