OctPoWriMo – Day 1 (What Was I Thinking???)
Well, here it is…October first.
When did that happen?
At some point during the last few weeks, I think I decided to give the OctPoWriMo challenge a try. But seriously…thirty-one poems in thirty-one days? I don’t know… But I do know that it’s been far too long since I flexed my poetry muscles, so now is as good a time as any to jump in.
A fleeting moment
of fiery pink
streaks through the aquamarine sky
and I…
I was lucky enough —
blessed, in fact–
to have looked at exactly that moment.
For in the next minute,
as I watched,
it faded away and was gone…
changed
to turquoise lower
violet higher
evening sky.

Thanks for taking a moment to capture that fleeting sunset in words! Very nice. 🙂
Oh, thanks, Leslie! It was beautiful – not what’s in either photo, but they work!
Lisa!!!! That was lovely! And I’m so glad you’re joining! Yay! 😉
Aww…Jesi, thanks! I have to confess I wrote that a long time ago, but the “cloud” prompt made me think of it. I think I’m glad I’m joining…way nervous, though. This is a lot of poeming for someone who hasn’t done much lately. 😀
What a lovely beginning! I’ll be trudging along with you, so we can keep each other up along the month-long journey. Happy poeming!
Hi, Grace. Yeah, I may be trudging quite a bit! Thanks for coming over!
What a beautiful beginning indeed … breath-taking and a fine photo too! Bastet
Thanks, Bastet. The photos I cannot take credit for – those are both my Husband’s. He’s quite a good sky photographer.
Ah … nice to have such a great way to collaborate with your husband … makes the photos even more precious!
Absolutely!
how wonderful to look at just the right moment. a rare happening indeed. great words and images.
Candy, those are great moments for sure – ones you know are there for just a flash but were lucky enough to catch. Magic!
I love those moments and I’m glad you were able to share them with us in both photos and words. Wonderful beginning to the OctPoWriMo journey!
Thank you, Morgan. I’m glad I went with this for the starter today. The photos I had help with, though – those are my Husband’s. So while they aren’t THE moment in the poem, I knew he’d have something that would come close to what I saw.
Hey!!! So glad you’re flexing!!! You are so good at this! Lovely poem!
Hi, sweet friend! Yeah, I’m flexing. I don’t know about being good at it…it’s only day one. We shall see…. 😀 But thank you, truly. xo
Love this poem. Love these perfect moments. And, by the way, welcome to OctPoWriMo. You can do this!
Thanks for the welcome, Steph! I’m off to try and find today’s words…
Off to a great start with this lovely piece! We’ll have to shore each other up along the way – my Muse is already threatening strike action 😉
Hi, Karen. And oh no to the striking muse. I have a poem but it’s not posted because I want a photo and do you think I can find it? No…
So lovely, Lisa and beautiful photos like that are inspiring.
Thanks, Val. The Hub is a great sky photographer.
