Science With Kidzilla – Shark Edition
Reason number 75 why I love that my child is a reader…
Kidzilla saw the tweet and photo below on my screen a few days ago and said, “Hey, that’s a black-tipped reef shark!”
Just when you thought it was safe to watch Discovery Channel in the summer… #SharkWeek2015 http://t.co/lmo4274Dmb pic.twitter.com/I45CLSSwsG

Me: Is it?
Z: Yup.
Me: How do you know that?
Z: My shark books.
BOOM!
LOVE! LOVE that kid!!!!
I know! 😀 And wait…there’s more coming today.

Fun! This reminds me of the time our dog actually ate my son’s shark book that was a school library book. Horrified, I bundled all the scraps of chewed book and put them in a ziploc and wrote a note saying we’d replace it. Librarian sent me a lovely note back saying not to worry, it gave her the greatest giggle (“dog ate my homework…”) and said she’d keep the scraps to show future readers.
That is fantastic! I love when the “dog ate my homework” stories are actually true.
Shark books! Everyone needs shark books!
My daughter is sort of obsessed with sharks. She loves them. Right this second, she is on the living room chair reading Terrors of the Deep which includes many sea creatures, sharks among them. My little marine biologist.
Awesome!!!
Think she’s too young for Jaws? 😀
Well, duh!
😀 Yes, and she said it as though I really should have just known that.
I just love that kid… I think she can teach us all a few things, from all her reading!
Well, she often tells me things I didn’t know. I suspect you are right.
That’s a funny story. Kids crack me up – they know some weird, random things.
They really do know weird and random things, Steve. It’s amazing to me what sticks in her head.
That she is able to take knowledge from one source and transfer it to another is quite an accomplishment for someone her age. Kids are so much more knowledgeable than we were.
I am regularly impressed with the connections and transfers she makes, Val. Truly. She is a born learner.
Gosh, she’s well informed!
One of the distinct benefits of being an avid reader!
