TToT – Fastest Long Week Ever
I’m really not this late in posting…I had this ready on Saturday morning. Somehow, I failed to remember to link up the post, though. So here it is, better late than never.
This week has felt incredibly long.
And yet, since Friday evening I’ve found myself frequently wondering how the week went by so fast. Bizarre. There is much to do this weekend and in the blink of an eye it’s going to be Monday – and an hour sooner, thanks to pushing the clocks ahead an hour tonight. So I need to get down to business here quickly and move on…
First, the biggie! The Fab Hub had an interview this week. It seems to have gone very well and he came out of it feeling rather positive. So we’re hoping and praying…
Next, how cool is this? I found a comment that I thought was plain old spam telling me that the Italian Wedding Soup recipe I posted recently has been nominated as one of the “best on the Net.” OoooooooK, I thought. But whatever it is, there is indeed a website with a whole bunch of recipes posted and mine is right there with all the others. You can vote for me. So go vote for me! Follow the link below…mine is listed at #48.
http://easyitalianrecipes.org/soup-recipes/best-italian-wedding-soup-recipes-on-the-net-vote-for-your-favorite/ (Remember…#48!)
Let’s see, what else…
Friday night pizza was on the list of thankfuls for the week and I was never so glad to be “off duty” in the kitchen. And, well, just Friday in general. Two weeks in a row of five day weeks feels…long.
Warmer temps today are definitely something to be thankful for. When we left the house this morning, Zilla said it felt like summer. Not quite, really, but compared to four degrees? Yeah, it feels like summer. Right this moment – at 6PM and getting dark – it’s still 50 degrees outside. I’ll take it!
Here’s a double – haircuts for Me and Zilla today at a new salon. We really loved the girl who did our haircuts at the old place, but for about ten different reasons, it just isn’t the right place for us right now. We went to a new place today on a recommendation from my Mom and we were pretty happy with the results.
Here’s a real back-handed thankful – we are thankful to have figured out that Zilla’s behavior issues on Friday afternoon and evening can be directly attributed to her having consumed something at lunchtime at school with red dye in it. Are we happy that she ate something with red dye? No. But we are very happy that the person we contacted about it could confirm the information and did so right away on a Saturday morning – we didn’t expect to get a return phone call until Monday for sure. So that was terrific because it allowed us to answer some other questions.
We’re all pretty happy that it’s March and the official start of spring is just around the corner. Nobody loves losing the hour this weekend, but at least it’s a sure sign that the winter may finally be coming to an end.
I have to include my new glass storage containers. I’ve wanted to grab some of these forever and we found them on a fantastic sale. I’m very happy to be able to freeze and store food in glass rather than plastic. I will have to update with a photo later because right now they are all in the dishwasher.
I am thankful that the post I wrote earlier this week inspired so many passionate and thoughtful responses. I am happy to live in a culture and society where we are free to be passionate about our beliefs, make them public, and discuss them freely. That is not true everywhere and it is most certainly a privilege to be treasured.
OK, that has to be it for me…what are your thankfuls for the week? Share ’em or link ’em! You know the drill.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m also thankful for that post you wrote and the great discussion. And I completely forgot to respond via email about the FabHub’s prospects. Fingers crossed! Oh, and I voted for your soup. The weather today was A-Mazing. Amazing, I tell you!
Yeah, we are crossing fingers, toes, anything crossable. It’s been a very long time coming and I’d love for this to turn into something! We’ll see. All things in due time.
Thanks for voting for my soup! I am an idiot…I voted for the one below mine because my hand jarred strangely when I was trying to click the little heart. Damn arthritis!
I still have to put up the soup of the week post with your corn soup – did I tell you we made it and it was awesome?
WOW!! I just went back to read from your powerful post and I just love love love all the thought-ful comments and discussion around faith and God and everything in between!!! SO beautiful when that happens in a respectable and honorable way, isn’t it?
I absolutely love that post still- and I am beyond words honored to have been a part of it in some small way. Your intellect and depth are a gift to me, Lisa.
And to many others, I’m sure of that!
I am SO glad we have connected, my dear friend.
And yes- very slow week for me too- but now it’s over- and it never felt fast. Rough one, but feeling the ‘lift’ now. SO excited that hubs is feeling good about the interview! And spring spring… come come come!! And that is just such a relief to have information that will help your lovey, and I am so glad they got back to you asap.
Thanks, Chris. I really don’t see my little blog as anything particularly special or great – but thank you for your kind words.
I love these TenThings of Thankful posts. Congrats on your soup nomination. I went over and voted for you. Fingers crossed for your husband. Hope you have a wonderful, sunshine-filled, (it’s almost) spring week!
Thanks, Jean! The Thankful posts are great – you should join in!
In the meantime, I have to come over to your place and catch up – I’m so behind on reading this week.
So much gratitude rolled up in one week! Fingers crossed for a positive outcome from the job interview. Congratulations on having your recipe selected. And breaking in a new hair dresser can be so hard – glad it was an easy transition!
We are really hoping for some good news on the job front.
You’re so right about a new hairdresser. And this was kind of tough because we really loved the girl we were using, but it was just a better choice to move. Kidzilla told me this morning “I really liked it at the new hair place. I want to stay there.” So I guess that’s a good sign!
Number 48…done….it looks great! Saying prayers to the job gods! Its funny but those weeks happen more now that im older…slow yet fast….freaky!
Yeah, it feels like the days drag, but then all of a sudden I wonder where the days went. It is bizarre. Thanks for voting and praying!
Voted! (funny you should have this in your Post)…as I had a cooking related vid in today’s post. well, sorta cooking related.
I haven’t seen your post yet today, but now I definitely have to check it out. Thanks for voting!
I’m back. Voted on your recipe. Twice, I think!
My digits are crossed and double crossed for you and Fab Hub.
Love the new glass containers. Pyrex? I also am on a mission to eliminate plastic from the fridge!!
Yup, Pyrex. Love it! Sometimes plastic is the way to go – I definitely do not carry my salad to work in glass. I suppose I could, but that’s another purchase for another day. For now, I’ll use the disposable containers.
Thanks for the vote and the crossed fingers!
#48 looks the most delicious by far! (I voted.) Those glass bowls look perfect! I’ll be keeping my eyes out for some. Perhaps then everyone will stop putting red sauce in my plastic ones.
Isn’t the warmer weather wonderful?!?! Except for Wednesday and Thursday (when it will be 30 with snow) the week ahead looks marvelous and certainly springlike around here. I will be doing lots of happy dances!
I read your other post when you published it, but there was just nothing I could add to the conversation. The whole thing was quite thought-provoking.
Hope your coming week is just the right speed for you. 🙂
Target – that’s where mine were on sale. I was tempted to buy two sets, but resisted the urge.
Today was lovely – at least in the afternoon. Drove home with the moon roof open enjoying the sun and warm air. Trying to decide if the storm this week is going to be a big deal for us or not – I think minor nuisance.
I didn’t expect that post to be such a thought-provoker and discussion-prompter, but it was. I don’t know if everyone quite enjoyed the debate, but for the most part, I think it was a good thing.
Where did you get them on sale? I could use some more storage as well. And I voted 🙂
Very fancy store – Target. Wicked good sale.
Thanks for the vote!
So glad that your husband’s interview went well – fingers crossed! And huge congrats on your fabulous soup being nominated – voted!!
We are really hoping for something in the job department – this has been a very long haul.
The soup nomination made me giggle- 48 out of like a bazillion! But it is very nice to get the nomination. Thanks for voting!
Congrats on your husband’s interview. I hope it all turns out as you hope!
So do we…nearly two years is a long time to wait for a position. Hoping for some forward movement here!
Ack! Late again. Late to start, late to finish, I am! So sorry *sigh*
I (apparently) ran out of steam halfway through this weekend’s TToT. I do know why, but it’s still not very nice for those few people who I had to overlook to deal with Real Life. My apologies – you ended up being one.
WAHEY that your soup’s getting accolades. That’s very cool indeed.
And I’m glad you figured out that Zilla had red dye which made her behaviour go loopy. Blue dye makes mine go. I love blue.
And your post last week was REALLY good. I’m glad you wrote it. Thank you.
It happens – and Real Life is important so whatever it was/is, no worries. Do what you gotta do.
Yeah, I’m not happy that she got it or that it makes her feel so awful, but it’s good know what it was. We’re making a list – red 40, yellow 5 and 6, blue 1.
That post was simply my inner head coming out on paper – but it’s so nice that it touched so many.
Congratulations on your recipe being chosen, that is so great!
I’m so thankful for warmer weather as well. Even though we had a major snow dump overnight, but it’s supposed to be 50 in TWO DAYS! Amazing.
I don’t mind the time change as much as others seem to, just thankful Spring is coming.
I have those Pyrex dishes and lids, too, and we LOVE them! They were a gift from my sister, and they are our absolute favorites! Oven to dishwasher to freezer, all good!
Ooh, so glad to know the great review on the Pyrex! I absolutely love them.
We had weather in the upper 50s yesterday and today, too – and now we’re plunging to below freezing tonight with wind chills at zero all day tomorrow. Honestly, that groundhog sure is getting his shadow’s worth! I will be so happy to see spring and summer – and I am not usually one who looks forward to the hot weather. This year I am!
First – way to go for the Wedding Soup recipe! How exciting! I cast my vote for you!
I’m amazed that red dye can have a direct influence on Zilla’s behavior. I’ve heard about how kids are allergic to dyes, but I had never known how it could affect behavior. Thankfully you were able to pinpoint the problem!
And yay to the glass containers. I did that too, and I love them.
The red dye definitely influences behavior – and other colors, too. I’ve done so much reading on this the last couple of months and I’ve been amazed. We’re pretty sure we’ve narrowed down the issue to a dye reaction and it does feel good to know. I hate that she has to be so careful, but it’s not a bad thing. It forces her to make better and healthier choices – in the long run, that will be just fine. And she’s taking it well, so that’s a bonus.
The glass containers are fantastic – just love them!
