#10Thankful – A Lovely Weekend
When I heard we didn’t have a linky thing, I was totally going to bail on my TToT.
I’m really tired tonight. We’ve been busy around here this weekend – all week, in fact. Skipping is temping…popcorn and a movie sounds divine. But I have a heart that is very full of thanks right now, so I’d better get to it…
I think first and foremost I am thankful that our daughter, our beautiful little Kidzilla, had an absolutely lovely First Holy Communion day on Saturday. The weather was rainy and miserable, but the sun broke through the clouds and shone through the stained glass windows of our church at precisely the time the children were receiving their first Eucharist. Amazing. The entire thing was beautiful, the kids did a terrific job with their part, and it was a wonderful day. I am so thankful she’s reached this important milestone in her faith and her life and so very glad she was surrounded by family and friends to share it.
My Hub and Zilla made today a very special Mother’s Day for me with beautiful notes and gifts (and I hear there is something they’re working on that isn’t quite finished) and – best of all – time to enjoy being together. I also got to spend time with my Mom. We do that a lot, actually; Mother’s Day isn’t something extraordinary that we need to be together. But I’m extra happy to have her around and in my life and consider her the best friend a girl could have, in addition to being a beautiful and wonderful example of motherhood.
Even though she is no longer with us here on earth, I know I have been blessed to have my Grandmother in my life for as many years as I did. I know not everyone has that experience. She was also a beautiful and wonderful example of motherhood. I know she is still with us in so many ways so while her physical presence is very much missed, I am glad to know she’s looking out for us even now.
Cat One has been taking his medication with less angst and argument so that’s positive. He is definitely feeling better and we can see it in his personality and behavior. He is still a champion napper, but he’s running and playing again much more than he did for a very long time. We are all glad to have figured out what was bothering him and help. Cats Two and Three are still a bit confused, but they’re getting used to this improved version of their brother.
I have more work offers than I could say yes to lately. It’s not a bad problem to have, is it? I do feel bad when I have to turn something down, though, but I am glad I can manage my workload well enough to know when my plate is full.
I have not managed to get much posted here in the last week (see several items above), but despite the lack of evidence in this space, I am writing a lot right now and will be sharing with you soon. So please come back and read! I’ve also had some time to catch up on some blog reading and other reading as well. It all feels quite good.
Zilla and I are working together to flesh out some ideas for the books we’re working on. I am really excited about doing this with my daughter and looking forward to spending time this summer solidifying our plans.
My Hub vacuumed the stairways for me this evening. Best Mother’s Day gift ever. Truly.
And now, I must take my leave because I have some relaxing to do before bedtime. And I’m not even straightening up the clutter on my dining room table.
I can’t tell you to link your thankfuls this week due to some technical difficulty on the part of our lovely Miss Lizzie, but you can certainly share them in the comments! So what has made you happy and thankful this week?
Oh, Lisa, sounds like a lovely weekend. I’m interested in the books you and Zilla are planning for the summer. Plus, I need a recommendation for a book club pick. You got anything? My club doesn’t do new bestsellers, there has to be an ample, available supply at the library. Limiting, I know, but if you’ve any suggestions, let me know.
It was a fabulous weekend, Val.
The books we’re planning are writing projects. We’re working on three different ideas for kids’ books – one stand-alone and two (potential) series. My goal is to have at least two things ready for publishing by end of August. Stay tuned!
Book club recommendations…well, have to admit I immediately thought of a couple things, but your guidelines kind of kicked them right off the list. The ample available supply – do you mean the library has to have enough multiple copies to satisfy the group? Does any library have that? Ours certainly doesn’t. One, maybe two or three copies at most. I can’t imagine having enough on hand for a whole group. I will definitely think up some ideas that might work for you – don’t let me forget, OK? Feel free to nag me via FB or WWF this week. I love recommending books to other people!
I had to miss out. My laptop has had it and I have lost patience dealing with it, but luckily I have a replacement coming this week. I’m glad you didn’t miss out on it though. This is a beautiful list. That project with your daughter this summer sounds interesting. Can’t wait to hear more. Glad you have an excess of writing work offers. You are doing so well, like I had no doubt you would.
Happy Mother’s Day to you. Your girl is one lucky kid to have you as her mom.
Kerry, my laptop has been behaving badly for quite a while and my Husband has decided it’s time for him to build me a new computer before this one quits. I’m not entirely excited. I mean yes, I’ll be glad to have a bigger better badder machine, but I do love this laptop a lot. But the great part is that he builds them himself and that saves us a TON of money on technology upgrades.
I’m very excited about our summer book project – my hope is to have at least two things finished and ready for publishing by the end of August.
My plethora of work offers is not entirely writing – much of it, yes, but I am also getting very frequent calls to sub teach. Either way, work is work and income is income, right? And thank you for your sweet and supportive words. <3
Sounds like we had similar weekends! We celebrated our 8 year old’s First Communion on Saturday as well. Such a joyful, teary day. 🙂
I’m so glad to hear your work is going so well! It wasn’t that long ago that you took the leap and went out on your own, worried if it would work. It’s working!! Couldn’t be happier for you.
I remember that you had First Communion coming this week, too! It was joyful and teary for sure. Brought up a lot of emotions that I’m kind of struggling with a bit lately (I think I’ve mentioned and it’s definitely becoming a post). It was just wonderful.
Work is going well. It’s still a scary world and I still have a long way to go before I’ll feel like I’m really “doing it,” but I feel very positive about the direction. And thank you for your kind and supportive words. <3
Happy cats and kids and a restful evening. Sounds lovely.
I am thankful for tea.
I am thankful for a comfortable bed.
I am thankful for our community which is beginning to diversify with grace.
Those are beautiful things, Anna. I am also thankful for tea and a comfortable bed and I’m heading that direction right now!
It was so nice to see you have a week when you were able to focus on happier things than being sick! Little ones are grown up before we know it, treasure these special moments and sharing times together. I love the idea of you working on books together, how fun! Cheers to Hubs for making you feel special on Mother’s Day and for helping you everyday, and double cheers for enough work offers to have to turn some away!! Life is good!
A resounding YES! to all of that, Josie. I am blessed.
