Ten Things of Thankful – Just Under the Wire
Making these Ten Things of Thankful lists has been a really positive thing these last couple of weeks, so I wanted to get one in before the weekend is over. Starting the week with a focus on what is positive makes a great difference in how I feel about starting the week.
For starters, I’m thankful that our weekend included so much time spent with family that I’m only getting around to my list with ten minutes to spare.
I’m thankful that Kidzilla is off to a great start in Kindergarten. She seems to be settling in happily and enjoying herself.
I am thankful for a good day last Friday.
I’m thankful that the Fab Hub is able to be available to pick up Kidzilla from her half days until the full day schedule kicks in. The time they are able to spend together is truly a gift for all of us.
I am thankful that the carpet in our downstairs room is gone and the vinyl flooring is in. The room is not quite assembled enough for everyday use, but it is a vast improvement. I am particularly thankful to the Fab Hub and the Almost Brother-In-Law for doing a great DIY job on the floor and Super Sister for sending us the Brother-In-Law to help.
I am thankful for a beautiful afternoon on Saturday to spend enjoying a short hiking trip with the Fab Hub and Kidzilla.
I am thankful for the several days of cooler, less humid weather in general for the last few days. Can’t say I’m excited to see hot and humid on the forecast again for the middle of this week, but the reprieve was nice.
I am thankful that I found a pair of black boots for school. I have the worst luck finding shoes that fit my strange feet, are comfortable, don’t cost a fortune, and I actually kind of luck. So today’s trip to the store was a relief. Now maybe my feet will stop hurting from wearing flats to school.
I am thankful that we have enough food in the fridge and the pantry to get through a few days of dinners without much thought or shopping. Breakfast and lunch might be another story, but I think we can get by there for a day or maybe even two as well.
I am thankful that Zilla and the Fab Hub are happy with pretty much whatever I come up with for dinner because lately, I’m really flying by the seat of my pants. Hopefully, we’ll all get settled into our routine this week and the afternoon and evening hours won’t be quite so crazy.

Yay, Lisa, you made it! Awesome that you had such a nice weekend with your family! And I’m glad to hear kindergarten is going well.
As someone who has hard-to-fit feet, I KNOW how important it is to find shoes (especially boots) that are cute AND comfortable.
With my son away at college, it’s a lot easier to throw together dinner (he’s the picky one). And we’ve only been home to eat a meal maybe one night a week since school started. Hoping to utilize the crock pot more and eating out less.
Enjoy your week! Fall is coming soon!
I did – I made it! And I’m glad. I really think it helped start my week off well.
Sounds like a lot of us have hard to fit feet. Another area guys have it way easier. 🙂
I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants lately, too, when it comes to meal planning. I hope to get more organized soon.
Thanks for linking up!
I’ve decided to call this “clean out the pantry and fridge week” and use up all the odds and ends of forgotten ingredients we have sitting around – the end of a box of pasta, a tiny bit of quinoa, uninspired eggplant, etc. and get creative. Meal planning, cleaning, and creativity all in one! 🙂
good to see you in the TToT this week, liked your list and I agree…with a (start) that has (within) it a positive perspective, the odds increase in favor of a good week! (or at least a good start for said week).
Thanks, Clark. It was definitely a good way to approach the week…first five day week of the school year. Teachers gonna be crabby!
Your post is the direct antidote to my wrathful one!
I just read it,. That is definitely an opposite pairing, yes. Life’s all about balance, right? Sometimes you can look on the bright side of life (are you dancing a little right now like Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets? Or Eric Idle in Life of Brian?) and sometimes you just gotta blow some steam.
What a wonderful, peaceful list. I hope you have an equally peaceful week.
Congratulations on finding boots that fit!!!!! I feel your pain when it comes to boot shopping. I have an incredibly high instep, so often it is impossible for my foot to even get in there. To top it off, my calves are super skinny, so unless they stand up on their own, they are baggy. Ugh! Not the look anyone is going for!!!!
Thanks, Tammy!
That’s my shoe problem – high instep. I do not have skinny calves, though! I have the opposite problem so I stick to ankle boots.
Such a nice list – it seems as though things are going really well with you.
I’m glad the flooring got sorted out, and you had the help to do it. Renovations can be such a pain, but easier by far when beloved family members pitch in and help.
The hiking sounds like fun, and I’m glad you’re happier with the weather. I just wish ours would switch back to ‘warm’ now.
Congratulations on finding the boots – there’s nothing quite so horrible as being in uncomfortable footwear, and yours sound like a real find. Long may they last and keep your feet happy.
Wore the new boots to school all day. My feet and legs a bit tired, but they feel one hundred percent better than the flats did! Sadly, the heat and humidity returns tomorrow, sooo…looks like I’m back to summer flats for a few days. Oh well. Overall, pretty comfortable, though, even if a little higher than I’m used to wearing.
The cooler weather was a great reprieve, wasn’t it? The heat and humidity are back in full swing today, but it was nice while it lasted.
How nice to have so many relatives willing and able to get your basement project done.
Glad to hear kindergarten is off to a great start.
Flying by the seat of my pants seems to be my new reality as far as dinners go. Hope you can get your meal planning back on track.
Yes, it was lovely. And the next several days are hot and humid. Yuck. I’m not one to wish my life away faster, but I’d be happy to be done with summer heat.
Great list! You are so smart to start the week off with good things to skew your perspective that way. As usual you inspire me to shop around my own kitchen and see what I come up with. Tonight it’s pesto, I’m just not sure if it’ll be on leftover pasta or gourmet hot dogs. 😉
OK, way past dinnertime when I’m reading this…was it pasta or hot dogs?
This list is such a slice of life photo. All the things we do in the course of a week. Seemingly small things that in the end are the things that matter and the things you look back on with love~ and as you say~ appreciation.
So true, May. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s the little stuff that ends up being huge.
There’s so much to be thankful for. I’m glad you have so many things on your list.
I’m thankful for the life I lead and the people I know. I’m thankful for the places I go and the fact I get to travel so much.
The experiences you gain from your travels are definitely thanks-worthy, Steve.
