Ten Things of Thankful – Better Late Than Never (Again)
Two weeks ago, I got my TToT in just under the wire.
One week ago, I thought about my TToT list a lot, but never actually wrote it. So I had to ride the wave of thankful happiness all this week.
This week, here I am again, right up at the edge of the weekend, with no TToT list ready. Yet. But I am determined.
And so, here is my list of things to be thankful for lately…
1. I am thankful that we have the “problem” of having so many veggies in the refrigerator that we can’t quite figure out what to do with them. I am always aware that there are those who do not have enough to eat every day and those who are not able to provide fresh, healthy options for their family.
2. I am thankful that today is the first day of fall. There is no question that fall is my favorite season and the season of my soul. Love.
3. I am thankful that Kidzilla is just as excited about the start of fall as I am. I love when we share an interest in things – whatever it happens to be. All week, we’ve been counting down. We hung our autumn door wreath, amidst serious discussion about which part of the wreath was the top. For the rest of the week, we will be swapping out other small items of home décor…candles, bathroom towels, table centerpieces, etc. Next weekend we head to our favorite pumpkin patch for their fall festival.
4. I am thankful that Andrea thought my blog was cool enough to talk about it here on her blog. And Andrea’s blog is awesome – at least I think so. Go give her a read. You’ll come back for more. Oh, and this is for Andrea – I totally think “Heartfelt” is a great category for blogs and I love being in that one.
5. I am thankful for a wonderful (and exhausting) day spent hiking and exploring on Saturday with Kidzilla and the Fab Hub. Fresh air, exercise, and time together was the best way to spend the day after a long school week.
6. I am thankful that Kidzilla did well in her first full week of full day Kindergarten. Like any new Kindergartener, she’s experiencing her share of adjustment bumps in the road, but she’s coming along just fine.
7. I am thankful that I got to take a short nap this afternoon. Alone. I love Zilla and the Fab Hub beyond explanation, but sometimes a Mommy just needs a nap. Zilla wanted to go to the playground, so they took off and left me alone in the quiet, sunny afternoon. Even the cats left me to my solitude and didn’t stomp all over me while I tried to rest. I am thankful for that as well.
8. I am thankful for the soreness in my legs today. Really. It reminds me that I am physically able to participate in things that I enjoy. Lots of people aren’t able to enjoy physical activity for so many reasons. And while my muscle soreness today is probably the result of a little bit of overzealousness yesterday, it still means I have the ability to move.
9. I am thankful that the sinus headache I had this morning is gone.
10. I am thankful that the Fab Hub is a patient man. He’s waiting to watch some Big Bang Theory but he’s letting me finish this post. He knows writing here is something I enjoy and is really good for me in much the same way as writing music is for him.
11. Tossing in a bonus here…I’m thankful that I have about twenty more things I could put on this list.
Come back and read again this week…I have the Soup of the Week post almost ready to go and a post about our hiking adventures this weekend in the works – complete with photos.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

I love your list!
Hiking adventures … sounds exciting!
Hi, Tinne! I have to come check out those muffins on your blog…apple, honey, and cinnamon sounds awesome. I’ve found good muffins at your place before!
The hiking was definitely an adventure this week…stay tuned!
I’m glad you were able to get your list in this week. 🙂
I love a good hike with my family, too, even if it means sore muscles the next day. Sore muscles is a thing for which to be thankful!
A fridge full of veggies is a conundrum sometimes. We’ve been there, on years when our garden does exceptionally well. The thought of wasting even one thing makes me crazy. Here’s to good eating!
Soup of the Week post? I only know how to make a couple of soups. My kids aren’t exactly fans of it, since I never made it when they were younger. I’ll be on the lookout for your post!
Yes, Soup of the Week! It’s my Mom’s idea, really, and I am certain that I credit her for it in the pilot edition of the Soup of the Week posts. I have a bunch on the blog already, and with the arrival of fall, there will be lots more to come! My Husband claimed to hate soup when I met him (kind of a long story) but now he’ll eat it pretty willingly.
I love autumn also, and am glad I probably won’t see triple-digit temperatures again before May of next year. 🙂
A relative told us this weekend that where they live they usually see upwards of 60 days per year over ninety degrees. I could never live there. Never. If it hits seventy, I’m pretty much done for. 🙂
I’m glad you like autumn so much – I may need you to teach me how, as I really am not keen at all – it heralds winter, which I hate.
Glad your headache’s gone, and that you got a NAP! I do love a good nap.
It sounds as though the first day of Kindergarten went really well, and that’s quite a milestone, so I’m really pleased it’s on your list as a positive thing.
Hope you find some people/recipes to use up the excess veg – an abundance of food is a blessing indeed 😀
Yeah, winter I do not love so much, either. But I definitely hate summer and hot sticky weather so I’m pretty happy to see fall. And I love love love the colors of fall. There is nothing quite like a good nap, is there?
We try to keep up with the veggie stash and when we pay attention to them and get our daily quota, we can stay ahead of it. If we skip a day or choose to eat something like takeout and not supplement or whatever, then we get behind. Luckily there is always soup!
RE: #1 – I’m impressed by how many veggie dishes you manage to pin. It actually makes me want to join a CSA. If I ever do, your Pinterest page is going to be a huge resource for me.
I do pin a lot of veggies. We actually try a lot of them, believe it or not. We do love the CSA veggies. We just get a bit overwhelmed every now and then when something is particularly abundant. Come use my board anytime!
Your list paints a picture of contentment. A contented life is really all we could ask for.
True that, May.
What a great list! Thank you for mentioning me. I am thankful that you are thankful for my list. And that my brain didn’t explode in that little situation there. 🙂
I completely followed you, though. Is that frightening?
