TToT – A Whole Lotta Good
The sky was a glorious blue this morning and the breeze was just enough. It was the kind of day that always reminds me of an early summer at the beach – perfect. I felt pretty light as I drove alone with the moon roof open. It’s been a very good week.
For starters, Zilla had one of her best weeks of school yet – we could not be more pleased and proud of her efforts. She’s been pretty terrific overall lately in the behavior department. She is absolutely delightful. A challenge? Yes. But completely delightful.
For me, the week flew by pretty fast and for that I am very grateful. With so many days off for bad weather over the winter, we have had pretty much nothing but solid five-day weeks and no breaks from President’s Day until Easter and it will be much the same until Memorial Day. So if week flies by, it’s a pretty good thing.
For Passover last week, I made a pot of matzah ball soup. That in itself is a great thing. However. I was in too much of a hurry when I pulled it together and the result was less than stellar. I rushed the process and cooked solely with purpose rather than love. The result is never good in my kitchen when I do that. As a result, the matzah balls did not hold together well and were much more like matzah mush. The Hub and Zilla still liked it just fine. The truth is that it may just be the best tasting batch I’ve made yet and that I believe is largely due to the homemade chicken broth that went in this time rather than the box of organic from the market. That stuff is pretty good and, make no mistake, I use it a lot. But there was something special about the homemade chicken broth.
Speaking of which, I am pretty glad my first-ever roasted chicken turned out very well. I did not grow up in a family of dark meat eaters so a whole chicken just didn’t make a whole lot of sense. We’re perfectly happy with just chicken breast. But I really wanted to make my own chicken broth so I decided to give it a whirl. All efforts turned out perfectly and served us well for not only a hot meal the first night, but a chicken salad and a few lunch sandwiches plus several quarts of the broth. Awesome.
I could stop there and be happy enough with my week, but there’s more…
The Hub has been a cleaning beast this week. He super-vacuumed the house, cleaned all the hard surface floors, did several loads of laundry, took my car for a much-needed car wash – inside and out, cleaned our shower head so it sprays correctly again, cleaned the inside of the dishwasher of all things, and purchased replacement bulbs for my stove surface light. That stupid thing is always burned out and I really miss having it.
And while we’re on the subject of how great my Husband is, he still makes the world’s most perfect cup of coffee and is completely supportive of me and the things I want to accomplish. I could not be more blessed.
But I am…
One night this week, Zilla started prayer as she often does. But on this particular evening, she strayed from her norm and instead offered this:
“Dear God, thank you for the delicious food that you gave my Mom the ability to cook. I love you. Amen.” She did that all on her own and it’s not even a format that we generally use here. The Hub and I were speechless. What a kid!
And to end the week, she crawled into our bed with me this evening and fell asleep. There is nothing quite like falling asleep with your baby in your arms. Especially when that baby is so much less a baby with every passing second.
I could probably add a few more things, but I think I’m going to sit with this bunch for now. I hope the week has brought all of you moments of joy and thankfulness as well!

Sounds like a lovely week! The prayers of little children are so innocent and conversational. Our youngest used to ask God about his day, which thought had never even crossed my selfish mind!
Oh my gosh, that’s the cutest thing! Can’t say it ever crossed mine, either. Kids are pretty great.
sounds like a very good week! plenty of things to do and to watch and to hear!
It was a pretty good and pretty full week. I feel like it was probably busy, but it flew by so fast, I hardly noticed.
Now, that’s a beautiful list! I was just reading a tutorial on how to clean the inside of a dishwasher. I stopped midway, knowing I would never do those things. I pour vinegar in it from time to time and let it run empty. Too squeamish to do the rest, I guess. Kudos, FabHub!
That Kidzilla is something else. Yay to her for her hard work!
Job news?
He got some kind of “dishwasher cleaner” at the supermarket. I suppose it’s probably a pricey combination of something we could make at home. Perhaps I’ll look into it for future use. But yeah, he definitely gets kudos for that job. Now, if I can just get him to do the oven…
Zilla is terrific. Watching her play with something right now and she has such a serious thinking face on right now. So funny.
No news yet…but they haven’t called to say he’s not getting it, either, so there’s that.
I still gotta say…I love that zilla! What a beautiful kid. I loved reading this today…very peaceful…sigh
Thanks, Zoe. Zilla is completely beautiful – in every way. I think peaceful is a pretty good way to sum up the week. And I do feel pretty at peace with things at the moment. Still wish that this job would come through for the Hub faster than they seem to want to move. But all things in due time, I suppose.
That Zilla – what an awesome kid. I love her impromptu prayer and that you got bedtime snuggles with her. Because you’re right – they become less babies every day (even though they’ll always be our babies) – so any bonus snuggles are definitely a huge blessing. Also, wait, we’re supposed to clean the insides of the dishwasher? I never even thought of that but am impressed your husband did so. I felt pretty great about cleaning the back of my closet out with the vacuum last night because holy dust bunnies! Great thankful this week!!
I tell Zilla that all the time – you may not be a baby anymore, but you will always be my baby. I think she likes knowing that.
Yeah, the inside of the dishwasher – who knew? My Mom will probably say that she did. And, clearly, the Hub knew. Now, about that closet thing…pretty sure I haven’t done that like…ever.
What a great prayer. Sometimes we try things and they just don’t work out. But how wonderful that your effort was recognized by your daughter. That roasted chicken sounds yummy. I’m definitely a dark meat gal.
Turns out we really like the roasted chicken – I even used the dark meat for the leftover chicken bowl and had it in chicken salad and sandwiches. Pretty sure the Hub never knew. I wouldn’t have if I didn’t know it myself. 🙂
Oh I just read all of this and I am in that beautiful daze of goodness… I am SO glad you had such a blessed week!! That prayer? Precious!!! And hubs? OHMYGOSH that alone could have been your list!!
I love that so many things are coming through on such a gorgeous level of living, my friend. So proud of your Zilla!!
And so proud of you.
Keep radiating that beautiful light…
Thanks, Chris. Really do wish we could get this job piece to fall into place, though – really do. So keep on praying, if you are, and maybe add us to your list if not?
Yeah, the Fab Hub is, well, pretty Fab.
