TToT – I Think I Can!
This has been one heck of a week!
I feel like The Little Engine That Could. Except at the moment, I’m so tired and I really need a nap.
But I’m determined to get my TToT in FRIDAY because if I don’t, it won’t happen at all. So let’s get right to it…thankfuls ahead!
Work. Work. And more work. And then? Even more work. I’m not complaining – this is a completely good thing. I’m just trying to figure out the balance, how to manage my time, how to get my bathrooms cleaned…
Soup. I love soup. And I’m glad I make huge batches and have leftovers because right now, two minutes in the microwave was about all I could handle. This is a new one I’ve made twice already because it’s so good. I think I’m calling it my new Sick Soup. Post forthcoming for those who want the soup.
Writing. I have been so busy working at writing for these contracts that I haven’t done any writing just for me. Totally failed at NaNo, but let’s be fair – I spent my time during November getting these paid gigs in place. But I took an intentional time out to do Six Sentences yesterday and I’m glad – I’m really happy with it. How about giving it a read?
Reading. I’ve been trying to catch up and keep up a little with blog reading. I truly have so little time at the moment, but I want to get in there and feel connected. It’s been good to read other people’s work. And I get to read for some of the work I’m doing, which is ah-mazing.
My Husband’s brain. I like other parts of him, too, of course, but it’s really so much his brain. I know he’s brilliant but occasionally I don’t give him enough credit for that. I mean come on – he’s a certified genius and yet has no idea where things go in the fridge or cupboards. I think it’s all about preferred interest. Anyway, he figured out he thinks the cat box issues have everything to do with stress levels and life changes around here. How did it not occur to me that the cats have been pulling this, er, crap since just after he lost his job? And that it ebbs and flows with stress levels in the family? Hmm. Clever guy.
Clean Sheets. I like nothing better than freshly washed sheets to go to sleep on. Aahhh.
Friday. It’s Friday. Even though I work at home and sometimes don’t put on pants to do so, Friday nights still feel like Friday nights. Again – aahhh.
Kidzilla. Because she’s awesome. She literally gave someone the coat off her back today – a friend forgot to take her coat out at recess and was cold and my Zilla let the other little girl borrow her coat for the rest of recess.
Friends and fellow bloggers and those who fit both categories all over the place who have indulged my silly Week With All The Deadlines updates on Facebook and left me encouraging and supporting messages. I love you guys. A lot.
I need a nap. I’m out.

OK, now you: What are you thankful for this week? What do you to when you’re way over-stressed? Are you reading and writing the things you want to be reading and writing? Do you need a nap?
You know the drill – share ’em or link ’em!

I’m thankful for all of those things, too. Are those lobster sheets? I love them!
Hi, Marcia!!! They ARE lobster sheets! Aren’t they awesome?
Oh my word, you have lobster sheets. Dirty or clean, that is awesome.
Soup is the bomb diggity.
I’m so happy for you to have gotten all of these working gigs. Finally! It’s just so exciting. I was happy you posted them to let us know each time. 🙂
I’m in a blogging limbo at the moment. Reading some. Writing a wee little bit. Time will tell where it will go.
My Aunt found the sheets somewhere and grabbed them because we have that running lobster theme/joke/whatever. So cool.
I knew you’d be up for the soup, Christine! I have been making soup but not posting because of all the time I don’t pay attention to my blog. But I’m hoping to get them written and shared – I think I have five or six really good ones.
I”m glad you said you liked seeing the jobs. I kind of wondered if it wouldn’t be annoying. I just really wanted to share! I’m praying that the flow continues and grows. We need it.
And I love that you always answer the questions I leave at the end!
Way to go, Lisa, on the paid writing contracts. I’m happy for you. I’d rather be super busy than bored with not enough to do. Yes, I have to comment on the lobster sheets, too. I have lobster socks, they remind me of a place I love in Maine. Not sure I could do lobster sheets. Have a great week, your list is superb.
Yeah, the super busy is better. And the paid work is much needed. I’m happy – just a little off-balance. Working on that.
The lobster sheets are all about the fact that the Hub and I have the lobster joke that goes way back to when we met and weren’t dating. 😀
I do remember that post. You found your lobster. Mate for life. Big smile.
Yeah. We have lobster dishes, too. So cute. The year we got married, they were on some great closeout sale and we threw them on our wedding registry half-kidding and the aunts swooped in and now we have lobster dishes.
” I don’t give him enough credit for that. I mean come on – he’s a certified genius and yet has no idea where things go in the fridge or cupboards.” Having been in the situation like this….my husband could run a mega million dollar project..and when he lost his job…he went through a huge depression and couldn’t do anything. I hope yours gets through this better than mine did. And yes..I love love love the sheets…especially nice when clean !!! 🙂 The soup looks wonderful.
Thanks for sharing your story, Cece. My Hub is actually fine – he lost his job over three years ago and now has one he likes quite a bit. It’s been a long tough road, though, that’s for sure. The thing about not knowing where stuff goes? That’s a permanent condition. 😀
The soup is amazing – come back for the recipe!
Very nice post Lisa 🙂 Big congrats on the writing jobs. Good for you! We all know you can do it 😀 Soup! I love soup too and the pic up there of yours looks delicious. I’m especially into soup lately since I’ve been sick. I’ll look for your post with recipe.
Now about those sheets…no nightmares of giant lobsters chewing on your body?!
Haha – no, Girlie, strangely enough I do not have nightmares about the lobsters. I’m surprised, though, because they’re kind of like bugs and I hate bugs.
You’re sick?? Oh no! I’m sending this soup to you right away because it’s perfect for when you’re sick. I”m about to heat up the last bowl right now!
And thanks for the congratulations. I’m really trying!
Thanks for the recipe Lisa! Sounds really good! I used to fix a dish prepared in a frying pan made up of cabbage, scallions and bacon. Once it’s simmered for a while it’s like there’s a type of broth to it. It doesn’t sound like it would taste very good but it does. Well, the way I remember it, it always tasted good lol
Keep doing what you’re doing! Seems to be working 🙂
I don’t know…that dish sounds pretty good to me!
Gotta love a husband with a killer brilliant brain and a daughter kind enough to give another child the coat off her back. You are lucky.
🙂
Hope the cats soon master their stress instincts.
Reading, writing, blogging and bloggers are all amazing things.
Soup is a cozy December thankful. Well done and love your daily progress updates on Facebook. Glad you are learning to manage your time and the deadlines. I am sure it will get easier as time goes on.
Aw, I’m so glad you like the updates – I kind of wondered if they weren’t annoying. They kind of help me keep tabs on myself, too. 😀
And yes, I’m sure the management of it all will get easier and fall into place. This is all just so new.
My cats, kid, and Husband are all awesome (even if I kind of hate the cats most days) and I am very thankful for them.
Freshly washed sheets make me supremely happy too. And lobsters! Brian would love those.
For some reason I am always incredibly slow to catch on as to whether my stress levels might be affecting others. I guess that’s part of stress.
We actually have two sets of lobster sheets – the ones in the photo look really cool and match the room well. The others don’t match so well or look as cute but are SO comfortable.
I don’t quite get around to realizing how my stress, mood, etc. affects the rest of the house, either. And I totally missed the connection between all the life changes and stress around here and the cat behavior. Duh. Guess there’s a lot of truth to that saying “If mamma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”
OMG! I ADORE ZILLA’S HEART! <3 <3
And I like reading your numbers updates and know that your bathroom hasn't been cleaned again because you've been WORKING.
Give the cats some xanax (talk to Ivy about dosing them) and all your poopy worries might just float away in a cloud of cat happiness.
Hope your nap was awesome (like your six sentence story)
I know, right? I adore her heart, too. And it’s good to remember that on days when she’s not quite towing the line… 😀
Kitty Xanax??? I’m calling Ivy.
I did get a little nap and I’m glad you liked the story! I never would have gone that direction without the Hub’s challenge.
How well do you sleep on those sheets? I am so suggestible, I think I would dream I was being pinched in retaliation for all the lobster I have enjoyed in my lifetime! Still, they are so fun, I am also sure I was subject myself to a wild night!
Funny! 😀
I read your post this morning at work. Because of you I made soup tonight. Unfortunately it was not good soup… I kinda accidentally went bezerk with rosemary… but the chickens loved it!
So you made…rosemary chicken soup? 😀
Hahahaha!!! Heee!!!! Snort!!!!
lol ( the imagery from May’s Comment! )
Not a big ‘food person’ but at this time of year, soup definitely has an appeal.
good work on the work! (remember the writing is the work, everything else is the business… it helps to see that so energy and time can be allotted and it also helps reduce stress levels)
You know, that’s a good way of looking at it, Clark. Definitely. I have a big load of the writing part to do today (I am SO behind on these two) and I can’t get back to work on them until this evening. I’m frustrated right now – not at the work that there is to do, but rather at the situation keeping me from getting it done on the time frame I really want and need.
I love soup. When my guys were younger I used to come home from dinner at my moms and make a big pot of soup every Sunday night. The boys always ended up having a bowl of it before bed.
Sunday night soup is awesome! When my Mom had a houseful of people at home she used to make a “soup of the week” to have around for lunches, quick meals, etc. I’ve been doing the same here and it really makes me happy to know there is always soup.
