Six Sentence Stories – Reflection on a Railway
How much power lives in a moment?
Life churns along, making steady progress across the landscape. You travel slowly up mountains, calmly across plateaus, more rapidly down hills on the other side; the legs of the journey vary, but always take you forward. You decide you’re making good time, estimate your anticipated arrival, and settle comfortably for a nap, never giving trouble a second thought…
Jolted from drowsy half-sleep, you know immediately – derailed.
A split second of circumstance forces an altered travel plan.

She is mother to one glorious handful of a daughter, wife to the nicest guy on the planet, and reluctant but devoted owner of three Rotten Cats. You can find her adventures and thoughts on living life deliberately here on the blog.

Iv’e lost count of the amount of times I’ve been derailed… Great post, Lisa.
I hear you, Kimmie. Ugh!
Thanks for reading so fast. Made me so happy! I’m so behind on reading this week. Bad week…
I’m behind on EVERYTHING this week… bad one here too. I hope this coming week is a better one for you, Lisa. Always here if you need an ear x
Very good! I need to try this one day. I love the picture you chose to go with.
Thanks, Kenya. I love trains. Do try the SSS! It’s a great challenge and really fun.
Derailed often and only by seconds…good use of the cue
I hear you, Paul. And thank you.
great going you! Even if it werent last minute per your report! Its never late before tuesday BTW! Hey , I like the new look!
I really wasn’t sure where I wanted to go with this one. Something must’ve sparked my muse at some point. I do know it’s open until Tuesday, but I always feel like I missed the party when I wait. 😀
The new look is developing – working on a new header image. Thanks!
I’m so glad you’re using that energy positively – and very well too! This is beautifully written. I love the imagery!
Thank you, Liv. Your comments always make me so happy! 🙂 Channeling energy positively is something I really prioritize – I wasn’t always good at that.
Excellent story of life’s derailments! We get back on track , then derailment happens again, and we keep this cycle going throughout life. Thank goodness for alternate plans. 🙂
Thank you, Jessie. Yes, true that we all experience many derailments. But we get righted and keep chugging along. Thanks for reading!
Fantastic metaphor for life. Choo choo.
It works! I keep thinking of Thoreau’s statement that we don’t ride upon the rails, they ride upon us. Whole different idea, but still. It’s stuck there!
I love this piece! So true and such a perfect metaphor to tell the truth.
Thank you, May! Good to see you!
