Bloglovin’ – Who Knew?
I haven’t been part of the blog world for very long. There is a lot I don’t know. It’s fine. I’m happy with my little blog so far and I am thrilled with the new friends I’ve met (met?) through it.
I’ve been reading a particular handful of blogs pretty regularly. For a while, I subscribed by e-mail. But the e-mail notices got overwhelming. One of my particular little ADHD quirks is that when a task seems too overwhelming, I block it out and so I would end up not reading everything. So I unsubscribed from the e-mails and secretly hoped nobody would get offended that I had done so. Of course, then it occurred to me that probably nobody would notice.
Then I started subscribing to the RSS feeds. All fine. But not really. What bothered me was the fact that the RSS feeds on the blogs I read don’t seem to update as fast as I think they should. I’d get a notification that there was a new post, but when I clicked over, it was a day or two old already. No good. Maybe that’s normal, but it irritated me.
I wish I could tell you how, but a few days ago I found Bloglovin’. I think I was reading a blog and it had a button or a link or something. I checked it out and it looked like a good solution to my delayed feed update problem. So I signed up and promptly found most of the blogs I read right away.
This is a very cool site/service. You follow the blogs you want to, uh, follow and you’re all set. You can get a daily e-mail with your blog feed or you can just go right to Bloglovin’ and sign in there. Easy and convenient and it works for me.
Here’s a link to follow my blog on Bloglovin’:
Show me some love and click it!
Been curious about this for a while now. You spurred me to action and you are the first blog I am following there!
Yay! Thanks, May. 🙂
I found Bloglovin’ last year and I love it. I used to just keep all my favorite blogs on my bookmark bar and would click through them to see if there were any new posts. It seemed like such a time waster when a lot of the time none of the bloggers I liked were updating with new stuff. Bloglovin makes it easy and efficient to follow my favorite blogs-like yours!
Thanks, Heather. I like yours, too. 🙂 The name got me – the rest kept me!
I did the same thing – used bookmarks and it took forever to keep up. So far, I think this way is much better.
I switched to BlogLovin, too, when I found out Google Reader was going away. I also tried Feedly but I think I like BlogLovin the best.
Hadn’t heard about Feedly, but the name is cute. I definitely think the Bloglovin’ works.
I’ve been using it for a few days now, and transferred all my email subscriptions to Bloglovin’ – easier than I thought it would be, since most of my favorite bloggers post much more regularly than I do. I love it. Hope you found me!
I did! When you put your Bloglovin’ post up it reminded me that I needed to do that link-back thing. Thanks. 🙂
I may have signed up then done nothing. I must figure it out as it sounds great! Thanks for the nudge!
It’s really easy – working very well for me.
I’m a late adopter. I thought I’d found another RSS Feed reader, but it died a miserable death over the weekend, so I decided to give Bloglovin’ a try. I still haven’t figured out how to fully work it … like searching just among my list of blogs for a certain term … but it is functional and allows me to claim my own blog. Thanks for the push in that direction.
You’re welcome. I’m sure Bloglovin’ does things I haven’t figure out yet, but I do like having the list of blogs I like to read in one place and getting to new posts quickly.
