Do You Hear What I Hear?
A pot of water boiling on the stove. We need to use those last few potatoes today.
Rain – or maybe melting snow – dripping outside the windows. Perhaps a little of both.
Christmas songs on the radio. Awesome.
Cars driving by. The windows are open today. Fifty-four degrees so far today.
A flock of geese – very large, I think – honking as they fly overhead. They can be heard through the open window and coming over the kid monitor in Zilla’s room producing a strange stereo effect.
A cat howls from somewhere in the house. He doesn’t sound like he’s trapped behind a closed door…he can solve his own problem.
Kidzilla playing with her Christmas stuffed animal friends in the living room. There is a heated debate between a moose and a mouse about a race. Somehow a lamb is also involved.
Ornaments jingling and clinking on the tree. A cat just wriggled his way into the Christmas cave.
Coffee pot beeping to tell me it’s about to shut off. There may be one more cup left.
Rain falling steadily now. A slight breeze stirs the blinds and makes them click against each other.
Kitchen timer. Potatoes are ready.
Sounds peaceful and perfect. I hope you found a final cup.
I did indeed, Sarah! It was a nice, quiet day. 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Lisa!
OH, and to you, Heather! 🙂
What a great slice of your day!
I know what you mean about the cat yelling. They have a different sound when they are locked somewhere. You are right: they can take care of themselves, even though they prefer not to some times.
They really – and all three of ours have this pathetic “help me” meow. I really think it’s a game they play, though, in an effort to get me to come see what they need. Which is usually nothing. :/
Ah the sounds of Christmastime. For some reason everything always sounds so much better this time of year.
You know, it really does. Guess there really is something magical about the time of year!
