Forever Faithful
The driving rain sliced at Danny’s cheeks and hands as he lashed himself to the mast, prepared to ride out the storm. Another blade of lightning cut through the sky and he though thought of his military days before his present life, the years when he learned to love and respect the power of the sky and the sea.
Eternal Father, strong to save, whose arm does bind the restless wave,
“This captain might go down with the ship,” he yelled to the raging storm around him, “but I’ll be damned if he’s going to get swept away from it and lost forever in the deep!”
Who bids the mighty ocean deep its own appointed limits keep;
As thunder and waves continued to crash in concert around him, Danny thought of Melinda and of their rambunctious kids – every one of them looked like him but behaved like her, thank God – and he focused his mind squarely on the forever they had planned.
O hear us when we cry to Thee for those in peril on the sea.
“OK, God,” he said as he nodded confidently to the sky, it’s just you and me and the water now, and I believe we already know you can handle that.”

Nice blending of poetry/lyrics with a rather dramatic scene…and, and! classical mythology reference.
Very cool
Thank you, Clark. You are the far and away master for providing music to accompany a good six – you and Denise, too.
A hymn forever etched in the minds and hearts of those who serve or have served in the Navy, and a hymn of prayer upon the lips of their loved ones. I like how you combined the present with the past in your SSS.
Thanks, Pat. It is indeed a beautiful hymn and one I’ve always loved.
Six Sentence Stories. Where else can you get stuff like this?! The blending of words and visual and hymns. Powerful presentation.
LOL right? SSS has it all! And nobody does words and music combos like you and Clark!
Also, thank you.
Thank you and…thank you!
Powerful six! I admire the courage and determination of Danny in this story.
Thank you. Danny’s a tough guy with a big heart – that keeps him going.
Excellent interaction between a man and God. The hymn pulls it together.
Thanks, Lisa!
