Guest Post by Proxy – Five Random Facts
I asked the Fab Hub for help with this post…it was harder than it looked.
He would not provide me with examples of five random things about me or my family that he felt were interesting, funny, bizarre, or anything else. Why not? He needed more specific criteria.
I needed someone more likely to be able to produce random facts on demand, so I called in The Pro: Super Sister. The volume of strange and random facts that came flew at me via text message and the speed at which they flew was truly impressive.
I would love to say I thought of all these random and oddly interesting facts all by myself, but really the credit must go to the Super Sister for most of these (and a few others that didn’t make the final cut), thus making her my guest post writer by proxy for today.
Firsts: My Grandmother, my Mother, my Daughter, and I are all the oldest daughter and oldest child in our respective families. I am the first grandchild in our family and my goddaughter – who shares my birth date – is the first great grandchild. Fab Hub, Kidzilla, and I are all the first child in our family and the first grandchild on both sides of our families.
Name’s the Same: My Mom, Kidzilla, and I all share the same middle name. And at the same age, we all kind of look alike in photos, too. But that part really has nothing to do with names, does it? Moving on.
Years in Common: Super Sister and the Fab Hub are almost exactly ten years apart in age. Super Sister and Super Fiancé will be married the same year as Fab Hub and I celebrate our tenth anniversary.
Meant to Be: Many years ago, my Mom was the organist at Fab Hub’s Bar Mitzvah liturgy. Our families did not know each other then. And I am certain that since he was thirteen and I was old enough to drive at the time, the thought “Oh, hey, that could be my future son-in-law” never crossed Mom’s mind. Ultimately, we met when we both started working at the same place of employment at the same time. Strangely, though, we each almost worked there at other dates prior to our actual start together. Guess we weren’t quite ready to meet until then.
The Ultimate Bookworm: I have never not finished reading a book. Ever. Even if I hate a book, I will always finish reading it. Eventually. Sometimes this takes years or I read ten other things in between the first and last chapter of a book, but I will always finish. So far the only potential exception is the novel Wicked. It is by far my least favorite book ever. I think I started reading it about six years ago. I put it aside when I just couldn’t stand it any more…but perhaps someone can convince me to pick it up again and keep my record intact.
So there you have it, friends, five completely random things about me and my family. There were quite a few other oddities that came up, but I think I’ll save those for another time, another post.
For now, I have to go see if I can figure out where the last week went. Or, more accurately, where January went. I really can’t figure out how an entire month has slipped by so fast. Perhaps it happened while I was admiring my new cookware or actually reading a few of the things on my Reading Pile. I’ll be working on posting some of that stuff soon!

Meaning,
Pick up a copy of James Joyce’s novel, Ulysses. It will make Wicked seem like a thriller.
Ugh, yes. Managed to avoid that one so far – opted out of the “Joyce and other depressing Irish literature” course in college.
Funny but I can’t stand not finishing a book (even if I don’t like it). That is probably why I read all of the 50 shades books. They were total crap but I couldn’t avoid the challenge.
Kinda how I feel about the Twilight series. Doesn’t really interest me, but when I have absolutely nothing else to read I may pick them up just to say I did it.
Four generations of eldest children/daughters? That is amazing! Does that translate to a whole lot of over achieving in your family?
It most definitely does! And, like anything, that can be a blessing or a curse.
Ditto. Where did January go? And why don’t my images for my blog edit themselves?? 🙂
You know, I’m still working on photo edits from a hiking trip in October…
I USUALLY finish books. Until I read Jane Austen. Love the movies, can’t stand the books!
Interesting. Any idea why you don’t care for the books?
I used to HAVE to finish every book I started. Then I realized the dread to pick up the half-finished book was keeping me from reading another book that I might actually enjoy, so I gave up the need. Now, if I can’t get into something within the first few chapters, I just toss it aside for something better. I get the need to finish a book, though. I always felt as if there had to be something of value in it and if I didn’t finish it, I’d miss out.
Usually when I feel that dread of the unfinished book, I just read something else in between and go back to it. Sometimes stepping away from it makes me forget I didn’t like it or something. Except for Wicked. Still hate Wicked. What you said could be precisely why I always feel like I need to finish them – wondering if I’m missing something great.
