TToT – Between All the Things
Until this afternoon, I have only been home to sleep. We are on the go!
If I’m getting this TToT in at all, it has to be right now while we’re home for a few hours in between all the things. Here we go…
I am thankful for time to relax and spend together with family. On Friday, Zilla had only half a day of school, so we spent the afternoon together running some errands, taking a nap, then going shopping with my Mom – a trip Zilla requested a week or two ago. The Hub opted out of the girl shopping and joined us for dinner.
~~~
And that’s as far as I got before we took off again for the rest of Saturday. I should probably re-title this post “AFTER all the Things.” Today was much of the same. We spent the afternoon at a Girl Scout activity and the weather was just beautiful. I’m thankful for a full weekend of great things, that we all had a good time, and that we are all home safe and sound. Zilla has been snuggled in her bed for several hours already and the Hub and I are catching up on some of our own projects before bed.
I am thankful for my Daughter’s love of reading. I just don’t think I can say that enough. One of our shopping stops was a terrific bookstore – the world’s oldest continually operating one, to be specific. So cool. Zilla had some money saved for shopping and my little bibliophile dropped about fifty bucks on books for herself. She asked me to carry her books for her, but I figured she should learn early that if you’re going to be a book nerd and hang out in book stores, you have to be able to schlepp what you buy. And you know what? She did. She carried her not-so-little bag quite proudly for the rest of the evening.
And if you can’t schlepp what you buy…do your shopping online and have it shipped! That’s what I’ll be doing. The Hub and I got to spend some time wandering a bookstore all by ourselves this weekend, so I found a few things for myself, too. This one, however, I picked up not at either bookstore I visited this weekend, but at the Cracker Barrel gift shop, of all places. We took Zilla there for brunch on Saturday. Our cupboards were bare (because who has time to shop when you’re out doing all the things?) and we needed food. We realized we had never taken her to Cracker Barrel and they serve breakfast all day, so off we went. Check this out…
Take a guess at what’s behind that cover? I’m planning a post on this little gem already.I love an accidental book find.
I am thankful that the Hub took homework duty with Zilla this evening. I am thankful that the Hub and I got a night out alone together and could do it knowing Zilla was safe with Godparents and having a wonderful time.
I am thankful that I’ve managed to get some exercise in every day this week and pretty much just the way I planned. I’m hoping to repeat that again this week.
I am thankful for all the friends who told me it was perfectly OK to hit my blog feed “all read” because I just could not catch up. I would love to read every single thing from every single person whose blog I love. Sometimes life happens and not in the manner we might like.
I’m thankful for good chats, both short and long, with good friends who may be far away in distance, but are always close in spirit.
I am SO thankful that spring finally got the memo that it’s time to show up and the trees around here have started to bloom. I grabbed a couple of shots – hopefully you can see the bit of green pushing through.
I am thankful for all the memories we have created doing all the things this weekend.
And now, friends, whether I’ve hit ten or not (I never count anymore…), I must take my leave. I hope to catch up with all of the TToT posts sometime on Monday!
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Your hosts
(possible FRIST?)
sounds like a good/busy weekend, aka a good weekend.
‘accidental book find‘ totally remember those and I need to find an old used bookstore and get back to that kind of exploring!
FRIST you are, Clark! Good to see you! I’ve been kind of off the Internets for a while. So, hello! *waves*
Yes, a very good weekend. I kind of need a Monday nap from all of it!
Aren’t old bookstores wonderful? I used to have a great one, but it’s no longer there. But I still love to come upon something unexpected and grand when least expecting it!
There is always something interesting to be found at Cracker Barrel. That place has a long history with our family, both Bryan’s side and mine.
Yay spring! It is marvelous to see all of the green, isn’t it?
Sounds like a busy but super-fun week you’ve had. And productive! Good for you, getting your exercise in each day.
Marvelous that Zilla likes to read so much. Nothing I like better than to see a little kid engrossed in a book.
Cracker Barrel is a very particular experience. I love adding Zilla to the things we already know and love. Our entire weekend was busy but fun. Zilla said Friday and Saturday were two of the best days of her life. That’s a pretty big statement. 😀
The green is really coming out today – overnight, it seems, there is so much more! We have a few rainy days on tap this week, so I suspect we will see a great burst during that time, too.
Christine, this kid gets so engrossed in her books she doesn’t see or hear anything around her. She walks with a book in her hand. All wonderful and at the same time dangerous and terrifying for the parents! We try to at least keep her seated when she’s reading – and she already has a favorite reading chair!
Princess Ponies and Ninja Librarians – Zilla has fabulous and diverse interests! It’s so wonderful that she loves reading. Ayla has not inherited my love of books, but now that she’s old enough for YA she’s reading a bit more. I’m so glad your busyness is good, productive family fun time. We would ALL love to read all of the blogs all of the time but, life.Hope you have another wonderful week, my friend!
Zilla definitely has diverse interests – and that photo is only a small sampling of the many things she loves to read about. I just ordered her a book about planets and one about rocks and minerals – by her request. That Ninja Librarians might be a bit over her level, but we thought it looked interesting and so I think we’re going to read it together.
You know, I spent some time in the YA sections of the two bookstores I visited this weekend (mostly because somehow I thought Beth’s book just might be on the shelf) and poked around a bit. I found a few things in the YA Fantasy/Science Fiction sections that piqued my interest and I may just end up reading. Happy to share if Ayla is interested in suggestions.
Yes, indeed LIFE. And that’s a good thing, right?
Have a great week ahead, too! XOXO
busy but a great weekend too! Thats the best kind…kinda like the book find thing! I still mean it about the no pressure on my end…. so there is that if things are too nutty for you… I will hold your feet to the fire after the challenge for another time… otherwise talk to you soon! xo I/L/Z
Yes, it was a grand weekend. I’m working on your thing. It IS nutty here but I’m good. I will be a bit buried the next few days getting all the things accomplished, but it’s kind of like falling into bed exhausted at the end of a day – I’m moving along, getting things done, gaining momentum.
Oh Lisa!! I’m just SO happy that you are healthy and having a WONDERFUL week of thankfuls!! Oh, that makes me so very happy… keep LIVING and enjoying those moments that are so precious in every way.
I totally get the keeping up with blogs… there are SO many people I would read all the time, if I could!! It’s just too hard to keep up… too hard. Oh, how I wish I had one more day in the week JUST for reading so many amazing people’s words! For every one blog I read, I let go of about ten. It is what it is… impossible!
Thanks, Chris. Yes, we’re having a pretty good time here. Life goes by too fast not to enjoy it.
So glad you managed to write and that you’ve been having a happy, busy time.
WONDERFUL about Zilla and the books.
I’m keeping up with NOTHING. I feel bad.
I know…I’m not keeping up with things too well on this side of the pond, either. Having another bout of overwhelm at the moment – like right now this very second. Just have to keep moving.
So glad you’re getting some Spring and some REST!!!
Yes to all of that. Seems odd that the rest part would come with the onset of spring – you’d think winter would be full of rest. Maybe I need to be out in the world with my toes in the grass more than I realize.
Your week sounds fantastic! Eating out, book shopping, time with your husband – that is pretty much perfect! Oh, and spring! I hope this week is just as fantastic!
Looking pretty good so far, Pattie! YAY for spring – finally some spring color around here!
Busy but what excellent “busy”! Nothing is better than spending time in books stores! I think it’s great Zilla loves to read. I was pretty much the same way when I was a kid. My mom took me to the library every week. When I got older, the library turned into book stores and amassing many…many books lol
Congrats Lisa on the daily exercise. I’d love to get back into the routine. Hoping the nice weather will be motivation:)
And yes. I can see the green coming through!
Denise, HI! I have really missed people these last couple of weeks!
Yes, I can think of far worse habits and addictions than books, right? I’m so thrilled that she loves to read. We have recently crossed over into the realm of Zilla having her nose in a book at all times. She’s too funny.
I did not get enough exercise in yesterday and today, well, I got distance but not intensity in my walking. Oh, well. It’s something.
Even more green today – lots of rain the last few days has drawn it out, I think. And LOTS of pink popping up in our neighborhood – the trees here bloom pink all over the place!
[…] weekend I struggled to find time to write my TToT in between all the things. And no, of course I didn’t write it before things got busy. That would have been much too […]
I love what a reader Zilla is! There’s nothing much better than settling down with a pile of new books by your side! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with fun activities and food (I love Cracker Barrel) and shopping. And that you finally got Spring! (I don’t suppose you want to hear that our trees have been fully leafed out for several weeks, huh?)
I love what a reader she is, too, Dyanne. She plowed through that pile in no time at all. I think other than the one that is truly above her reading level, she’s finished them. We’re reading that toughie together, one chapter a night. Today she got her Scholastic book order and whipped through some of those, too. She continues to amaze me.
Zilla loved Cracker Barrel – I can’t believe in all of her nearly seven years, we never took her there. She thought it was great – especially the tiny bottles of maple syrup.
