TToT – Fast Pass Edition
How is it possible that a week has gone by so incredibly slow and incredibly fast at the same time?
And then the weekend did the same thing? It was Friday afternoon like five seconds ago…how is it Sunday evening already?
Since we’re down to the wire here, I’m jumping in on the tail end of the TToT hop this weekend. I really didn’t want to skip and fall out of the habit (yes, it would be that easy for me), so no frills attached, here we go.
I am very thankful that a huge final deadline has passed in the last week. That particular one is a whopper, but also a sure sign of spring when it is wrapped up every year. I have another biggie coming up in about a week, but I’m already well into that process and I think I’ll tackle that one well ahead of time. I’m grateful to the Fab Hub and Kidzilla for being so understanding of my need to have work at home this weekend. It’s a total buzzkill, but I know I need to get ahead on this week or I’ll be sorry come this time next weekend. And I’m glad to have accomplished a large chunk of the projects and paperwork I have been trying to tackle this week. Oh, and then there’s the one glaring paperwork job that’s been sitting on my home desk for months – finally got that one handled, too.
And, speaking of spring, I am grateful for the return of Daylight Savings Time, even though it robbed me of an hour of sleep when it showed up. The extra minutes of daylight at the end of the day is wonderful. I can feel my mind, body, and soul slipping quietly into summertime already.
I am very glad to have some frozen meals ready to go in the freezer. It is so helpful on a busy or lazy night to just pull something out and heat it up quickly. It also reminds me how lucky we are to always have enough to eat in the fridge, freezer, and pantry.
I am so thankful for a girls’ night out with a dear friend – not only is it good for both of us to get out and relax, but I am grateful for the BFFs help and support in so many things these last couple of months. Cheers!
And I was sort of surprised to find myself thankful for a lovely e-mail from a new-ish bloggy friend. I was delighted to see her e-mail reply and just loved the news she shared. In a week where I was pretty much completely cut off from my blog and all the great people who I’ve come to know and love through it, I was so happy for that special side communication.
I am very thankful that Zilla has had a couple of very positive days in school over the last week. And I am very thankful for some quiet time together for the three of us this weekend playing games, making crafts, and just enjoying one another.
This one may be strange to some, but I am thankful for the rain this weekend. OK, maybe not the flood watch part, but the rain is washing away all of the ugly black leftover snow. It is washing some of the dirt off of my car. It is just something I love – clean, refreshing, and drowsy. As long as I’m not out in it getting soaked and damp, I’m perfectly happy to curl up inside and watch and listen.
I am happy that I’ve made some decisions and taken some steps that will inch me closer to some plans and goals. I have far to go yet, but these first baby steps are ones in the right direction.
I haven’t posted anything since last week’s TToT list, despite good intentions to do so. And even though my blog has been sad and neglected by me this week, I am grateful to my blog friends who have come to visit and left lovely comments on last week’s TToT post. Thanks!
Finally, I am so thankful that Zilla is settled in bed and that the Hub has suggested I put my pile of work aside for the night and get to bed early. I’m taking him up on the offer.
That does it for me for this edition of TToT. Share your thankfuls or link ’em up with our lovely co-hosts!

I know you well enough to know all that paperwork (especially in advance) is a huge thing for you. Congrats on your success at ignoring the Instant Gratification Monkey this weekend! And congrats on deadlines behind, or nearly behind, you. It rained and snowed all weekend for us, but now the sun is shining!
Yeah, paperwork is my big burden- at work, at home – everywhere. I definitely ignored that Monkey and tossed him away this weekend! That made me laugh. 🙂 We also had a rainy weekend, which honestly makes the work a little easier to bear. If it were lovely weather over the weekend, we would’ve wanted to go out and visit our hiking spot. The rain made it totally logical to stay inside.
I need to stock up on some freezer meals- what a simple way to make your life easier!
I love having a few things in the freezer, Kate – you never know when you need a quick night and it helps curb the temptation to just order takeout. It’s like homemade takeout – just heat and you’re all set!
Congrats on finishing some of your paperwork! We had a little rain last week and I loved it. Freezer meals are so wonderful. I’ve gone through our stash and really need to start re-stocking as it makes a big difference around here.
I’m working through our stash right now, trying to use up the wintery meals that we have in there. Then we’ll be ready for some things that work nicely in warmer weather – like ice pops!
I love the extra light at the end of the day, too.
I’d love to have some freezer meals, but I usually don’t like how they taste when I try to do them. I think I need some better recipes for this.
You know, there are definitely some things that “freeze beautifully” (always Steel Magnolias) and some things that just…don’t. We’ve found several that are really go-to freezer ones for us. Last night, for example, we defrosted a dinner container of Amy Kritzer’s Moroccan meatballs and sauce. Those are going in the regular freezer rotation!
I almost added rain to my thankful list…not sure now why I didn’t. For me, it’s another sign of spring. It was cool to listen to the drone on the roof.
I, too, so enjoy nights out with my girlfriend/s! A much needed break for all of us. Sometimes I find myself wanting to cancel at the last moment, but then don’t b/c I’ll feel guilty…then am always glad I didn’t!
My friend and I often say about plans we’ve made (together or not) “It’s not that I don’t want to go…it’s that I don’t want to go.” There’s that element of it’s one more place to go, one more thing to do – but it’s always worth it!
That’s exactly what it is! And yes always worth it to actually go 🙂
Totally felt that way about dinner last night, but it was indeed worth the trip. And I know where we’re going on our next night out – you have to eat what I had for dinner last night!
I’m glad you didn’t skip the TToT this week!
Yay for good days at school for Zilla. And for rainy weekends when you can alternate between working on stuff that needs to get done and curling up with your family. And for nights out with the BFF. And for Daylight Savings Time.
Hope this week is kinder and gentler for you!
We had several good school days in a row! So far, this week has been…rough…deadlines, problems – ugh. Is it summer yet???
I’m glad I didn’t skip. The TToT lists are the only thing I’m getting on the blog. I had no plan to take such an extended break – guess it just kind of happened!
Sounds like a hectic week. Isn’t it great that we get to start each week fresh and new? Some problems follow us but others can be put to rest. Cheers to girls night out! M
And another hectic one this week – ugh! I had no conscious awareness of how close these deadline weeks were to one another. But on the bright side, in a few days, I can put another one to rest. And then maybe I can get some rest!
The clearing a big project from your desk after it has lingered there for a long while….that one right there is the equivalent of 10 Thankfuls to me! I just hate when something is hanging over my head.
Sounds like a better week over all. I’m glad.
You’re right – there is nothing quite like clearing away the remnants of a huge project. I’m hoping to do that one more time in the next few days and be free of this phase of deadlines!
I also like the rain. So cleansing!
Sounds like you had a productive week outside the blog. It’s where I’ve been recently, too. Happy Spring!
Yeah, I’ve definitely been “outside the blog” the last couple of weeks. Is it finally spring??? Are we really past the snow??? I sure hope so…
