TToT – Words
Words hold great power.
Words can heal or harm, praise or cut down, build or destroy. Words can bring great change. They can bring us to tears or laughter and help us express our thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, and desires.
I am thankful for the abundance of words flowing plentiful in our lives this week…
When words harmed us, comforting words put us at ease. When our words harmed one another, words of apology and forgiveness followed.
Even when some words might be difficult to say, we find ways to give them voice, begin important conversations, and talk with one another.
I am thankful for the familiar words of well-loved songs and new favorites to provide a soundtrack for our days. I am thankful for sitting with someone special, learning words and singing songs together or reading books to one another.
I am thankful for words of prayer and the Word of God to strengthen and guide me. I am thankful for gentle words of wisdom spoken by a voice small, yet strong.
I am thankful for friends who use their words to comfort, advise, and entertain. I am thankful for the words that leap across miles and oceans to deepen connections.
I am thankful to have read words written by so many others that have inspired me, entertained me, and caused me to stop and think.
I am thankful for the words that have found their way through my fingers to my page.
I am thankful for expressions of love whispered by a small sleepy voice.
I am thankful for words of encouragement.
I am thankful for words of honesty.

The Neil young song is going through my head now. Lovely post lisa!
You know, I had to pull that one up – awesome song. And thanks.
FRIST!
BOOM!
What a great theme for your post this week. Words are my life. when you can’t see, visual cues are difficult to next to impossible to pick up. That’s why words are everything. I love words, lyrics, every way I can get them.
Thanks, Kerry.
I hear you – words are my language. Kind of a word junkie, I guess. 😀
A beautiful read. Thank you for your words. I love this.
Thanks, Val.
I am thankful that you know how to wield words so beautifully, and appreciate their depth and power. <3
I absolutely love that you said that, Christina. Thank you. Wielding words…so cool.
My words to you are of praise because you DID IT, of encouragement because you did it GENUINELY and of happiness because words are awesome and I think each item on the list has SO MUCH goodness in it.
I did do it and I’m glad you see genuine because it was. I scrapped everything I had in my draft – not because those things didn’t matter, but because this was what needed to be said. It’s true, there is much goodness here.
This is beautiful, Lisa! I love it … and that song. And now it’s stuck in my head too – but I don’t mind. Words are something I truly value. It’s clear that you do as well, and you explained why perfectly in this eloquent post. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you, Marcia. Words are my language – literally, obviously, but I think and feel in words. Other people think and feel in ideas, or images, etc. Words are very valuable to me. Thanks for your kind words.
Words… So powerful so beautiful so evocative ……Great job Lisa. You make me feel. So much you make me feel.
Thank you, Erin. I’m so glad you got all the feels from this! 😀
How wonderful and absolutely spot-on, Lisa! Words can be the most powerful weapon and a very potent medicine, depending on how they are used. Thank you for bringing this realization back! Have a wonderful week!
Thanks, Stephanie. Words are indeed a powerful, double-edged sword. I think that demands they be used with great responsibility. Can’t say I always do that as well as I might like, but it’s something to be aware of always.
Have a great week!
May we all use our words for good.
Amen.
Scriptures, prayer, and the gentle words of direction we hear are all true blessings.
Indeed they are, Kristi!
It’s astounding how a mere 26 letters can do so very much, depending on how they are combined.
Absolutely. The possibilities are endless.
So late, I will have to come back and listen to the song. Words are powerful. I love how you tied together words, reading, and thankfulness. Inspiring. 😉

That small sleepy voice — that’s the one that keeps me going.
So many beautiful things to be thankful for. I love this list.
Yes, Kimberly, that voice so often is the one. 😉
Ah, the power of words. I am also thankful for them, and for all the writers who share theirs with the world. You are one of those writers, Lisa – thank you.
OH, Dana, thank YOU!
