Wordless Wednesday – Chickens on the Farm on a Summer Evening
CSA season is here!
Our visits to our summer CSA farm started the first Friday in June. Here are a few shots of the farm and some very cool chickens we saw while there.
The rooster was particularly beautiful, although I don’t think the photos do him justice. The chicken shots aren’t the greatest – I was shooting into the very late afternoon sun and there was a hazy glare as the sun began to drop in the sky behind their field. Talk about a perfect summer evening, though!
We’ll have plenty more photos of the farm and the vegetable bounty as the summer unfolds!
I love the traveling chicken coop! If we could start our farm over from scratch, I’d totally do that!
It’s pretty cool. And definitely a traveler because last year there were pigs in that pasture! No chickens. No coop.
The place I work for has a working farm for clients and one of the things they market for fundraising are traveling coops. They are very cool. THat last photo is stunning! Funny side story… when T and I moved and sold our house it was an old farm that was semi working … apparently the people who bought it sold it again to the place where I now work… its a residential house for the mentally ill with a working farm…llamas, chickens, veggie fields… all kinds of stuff…. I had no idea until one day someone was showing me blueprints for the new fields for llamas and I was all…”HEYYYYYYY!”
That IS a great story. You have the best stories. I love the last photo – the lady riding by on the bike hit the shot at precisely the right moment. The trees make a perfect leading line. And it was just such a cool shot, all of that aside.
What a great summer evening! Love the sun shots and look forward to the fresh veggie photos! xxoo
Tomorrow is pickup day, so the veggies are coming!
I love the feel of this. I could use a summer evening like this. I crave it.
Some summer evenings just have a particular feel…
I love this title. So Robert Frost.
Hah – and so it is! 😉
We’ve not done a CSA for a few years. I wish we would have this year, especially since our garden is a bust!
I absolutely love the CSA. Only thing I don’t love is the u-pick garden because bugs. And the one lone assassin bug who stowed away on our beet greens last year. Other than that? Love.
